ASSOCIATION OF HUNGARIAN RECITERS IN ENGLAND
The Association of Hungarian Reciters in England (AMVE) is a cultural community of Hungarians living in the United Kingdom. It was established to preserve and pass on the tradition of Hungarian poetry and prose recitation, to keep our mother tongue alive, and to build a strong community among those living in the diaspora through the power of Hungarian literature.
Our events – including recitation competitions, literary evenings, and community programmes – provide opportunities for all age groups to present and experience the values of Hungarian literature through the art of performance.
Our most important event is the annual József Attila Poetry and Prose Recitation Competition in England, which is connected to Hungarian Poetry Day and brings together young people and adults dedicated to recitation from Hungarian communities across the United Kingdom.

RECITATION WORKSHOPS
The successful operation of the Association depends on recruiting dedicated teachers, educators, and members who have experience in this form of performing arts, either in Hungary or in the United Kingdom. Our goal is to build a sustainable network with Hungarian-speaking communities, institutions, weekend schools, teachers, and students. Teachers play a key role, as alongside parents, they take responsibility for preserving the mother tongue within diaspora communities.
