Participants and visitors arrived not only from across the UK but also from abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event was hosted at the Hungarian House in London, with the support of the Embassy of Hungary in London. We welcomed nearly 150 guests, including 41 competitors. All age groups were represented, from young children to older adults, each demonstrating their talent and commitment to Hungarian literature in their mother tongue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year also marked a special occasion: we commemorated the 120th anniversary of Attila J\u00f3zsef&#8217;s birth. To honour this memorial year\u2014on the initiative of the Hungarian Culture and Heritage Society\u2014we created a poetry video featuring the leaders of Hungarian cultural organisations operating in England, based on Attila J\u00f3zsef&#8217;s poem &#8216;For My Birthday&#8217;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"510\" src=\"https:\/\/amve.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/FB-Banner-2025_compressed-1024x510.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1993\" srcset=\"https:\/\/amve.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/FB-Banner-2025_compressed-1024x510.webp 1024w, https:\/\/amve.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/FB-Banner-2025_compressed-300x149.webp 300w, https:\/\/amve.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/FB-Banner-2025_compressed-768x383.webp 768w, https:\/\/amve.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/FB-Banner-2025_compressed-1536x765.webp 1536w, https:\/\/amve.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/FB-Banner-2025_compressed.webp 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The competition was opened by Be\u00e1ta Verb\u00e1szi, President of the Association, who emphasised the importance of community cohesion and cultural preservation.<strong> <\/strong>Our goal is to strengthen the cohesion between Hungarian communities living and operating in the United Kingdom, and to bring together, under the umbrella of culture, all those for whom the preservation and nurturing of the mother tongue and the performing arts are paramount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The performances were evaluated by a four-member professional jury:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Be\u00e1ta Verb\u00e1szi<\/strong> \u2013 Radn\u00f3ti and Kaleidoscope Award-winning performer, President of the Association of Hungarian Reciters in England<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Vikt\u00f3ria Kumin<\/strong> \u2013 Radio host, writer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u00c1kos Hajvert<\/strong> \u2013 Radn\u00f3ti Award-winning reciter, Cultural Commissioner of the Executive Board of the MNT (Hungarian National Council)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fanni S\u00e1rosi <\/strong>\u2013 Community Diplomat<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/amve.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Zsuri-2_compressed.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1994\" srcset=\"https:\/\/amve.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Zsuri-2_compressed.webp 1024w, https:\/\/amve.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Zsuri-2_compressed-300x200.webp 300w, https:\/\/amve.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Zsuri-2_compressed-768x512.webp 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While the adult competition was underway, our educators welcomed children with interactive games and handicraft workshops. It was a joy to witness the excitement of creation and the blossoming of creativity. The children were able to take their finished works home, providing them with a lasting memento of the day. Following the competition performances, writer and drama educator Katalin Bozai held a drama session, where scenes from her storybook were brought to life through interactive games. J\u00f3zsef Attila Poetry and Prose Recitation Contest in England featured two captivating guest performances. Thanks to our thirty-three sponsors, no one left empty-handed.
