This year\u2019s contest placed a primary emphasis on the community-building role of Hungarian organisations and weekend Hungarian schools operating across the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"608\" height=\"851\" src=\"https:\/\/amve.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/PROGRAM-2024_compressed.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1987\" srcset=\"https:\/\/amve.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/PROGRAM-2024_compressed.webp 608w, https:\/\/amve.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/PROGRAM-2024_compressed-214x300.webp 214w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 608px) 100vw, 608px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Be\u00e1ta Verb\u00e1szi, President of the Association of Hungarian Reciters in England, praised the selfless work of the weekend Hungarian schools in her ceremonial opening speech, noting their outstanding representation from various parts of the country:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8222;The weekend Hungarian schools in the United Kingdom work tirelessly to pass on the Hungarian language to children growing up in the diaspora and to deepen their connection to our culture, traditions, and history. Over the past years, a strong cooperation based on trust has developed with school leaders and teachers. Together, we recognized the immense significance of an event that gives the younger generation the opportunity to showcase their talent in their mother tongue. Literature is the noblest tool for this: by evoking our great poets, the power of the Hungarian word becomes a force for community-building.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><strong>A 4-member professional jury evaluated the performances:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Dr. Fanni S\u00e1rosi<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Diplomat of the Embassy of Hungary in London<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Be\u00e1ta Verb\u00e1szi<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Radn\u00f3ti and Kaleidoscope Award-winning performer, President of the Association of Hungarian Reciters UK<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>M\u00e1ty\u00e1s S\u00e1rk\u00f6zi<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Kossuth, Prima Primissima, and J\u00f3zsef Attila Award-winning writer, critic, translator, and editor<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Vikt\u00f3ria Kumin<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Radio host, writer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/amve.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/ZSURI_compressed-2.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1988\" srcset=\"https:\/\/amve.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/ZSURI_compressed-2.webp 1024w, https:\/\/amve.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/ZSURI_compressed-2-300x200.webp 300w, https:\/\/amve.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/ZSURI_compressed-2-768x512.webp 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the competition program, the organisers provided participants with a warm meal, followed by a handicraft workshop while the jury deliberated to determine the winners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Gala Program traditionally provides an opportunity for Hungarian artists living in England to introduce themselves. This year, Hilda K\u00e1d\u00e1rn\u00e9 Sz\u00e1sz, Director of the Sz\u00f3l\u00f3 Sz\u0151l\u0151 School in Chester and leader of the Albert Wass Literary Circle, took the stage accompanied by guitarist Albert B\u00edr\u00f3.
